In Wisconsin, the We Energies Solar Now program tried to make it easier for residents and businesses to be part of the solar energy revolution, even if they can’t install solar panels on their own properties. Let’s dive into what this program is all about and why Solar Now is no longer an active program in Wisconsin.
The We Energies Solar Now program was a solar initiative offered by We Energies from 2020 -2022. During the years it was active, Solar Now partnered with large businesses, nonprofits, and government customers to host solar panels. Working with customers across the state, We Energies has completed projects with numerous partners including Harley-Davidson, University of Wisconsin — Parkside, the City of Racine, the School District of New Berlin, and Washington County.
Solar Now was a pilot program that was approved for up to 35 MW. The program is now at full capacity, and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin voted to not expand it in late 2022.
While Solar Now is no longer offering financial incentives for solar, there are plenty of financial incentives for commercial solar in Wisconsin.
