Types of

EV Chargers

Level 1 Chargers

Level 1 chargers are often used for hybrid cars or low daily driving.

Standard Voltage

Level 1 chargers use a standard 120-volt household outlet, making them accessible and easy to use without additional installation requirements.

Portable and Convenient

These chargers are typically included with electric vehicles and are portable, allowing charging at home, work, or anywhere with a standard outlet.

Slow Charging Speed

Delivers 2 to 5 miles of range per hour, requiring extended charging times, often over 24 hours for a full charge on larger battery vehicles.

Low Cost

Level 1 chargers are the most affordable charging option since they don’t require specialized infrastructure or professional installation.

Ideal for Light Usage

Best suited for drivers with short commutes, overnight charging routines, or as a backup charging solution in emergencies.

Level 2 Chargers

Level 2 chargers are often used for fully electric vehicles.

Faster Charging Speeds

Level 2 chargers operate at 240 volts, delivering 10 to 60 miles of range per hour, significantly reducing charging time compared to Level 1 chargers.

Home and Public Installation

Commonly installed in homes, workplaces, and public charging stations, they require a dedicated 240-volt outlet or hardwired connection by a professional electrician.

Versatile Charging Option

Suitable for both daily use and longer trips, making them ideal for drivers with higher mileage needs or limited downtime for charging.

Enhanced Features

Many Level 2 chargers offer smart capabilities, such as Wi-Fi connectivity, app control, energy usage tracking, and scheduled charging to take advantage of off-peak rates.

Moderate Cost

While more expensive than Level 1 chargers, they offer better performance and are often supported by government incentives or rebates to offset installation costs.
