BUSINESS DEVELOPER – Commercial and Industrial Solar

Arch Solar C&I is seeking an organized, energetic, and resourceful individual to model, design, and analyze solar energy and battery storage systems for commercial customers. This individual must be driven, accepting of challenges, and have a desire to never stop learning about advancing technologies and equipment. Time management and structured organization are critical for this role, as well as self-motivation. This individual must be ready to speak to business owners, c suite executives, board rooms of stakeholders, and facility directors. By joining our team, members of Business Development are expected to take a leadership role in the Wisconsin Solar industry; continually learning, attending events, and eventually pushing our industry’s technology and methods further.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform utility bill analysis for commercial customers, including demand loads and time of use
· Perform site assessment for commercial customers
· Design and recommend systems to offset electrical consumption
· Understand interconnection methods for various Wisconsin utility companies
· Perform DC string sizing, conduit planning/sizing
· Participate in permitting, including board meeting attendance
· General proposals in modeling software program
· Resolve concerns and overcome challenges
· Maintain and participate in ongoing training to applicable technologies
· Stay up to date on current incentives, tax credits, grants, and other financial options
· Write grants as needed
· Manage relationships by building trust, rapport and confidence with customers, contractors, and other employees
· Make a positive impact on the environment
· Maintain availability and flexibility in hours to best suit customer needs
· Maintain up to date industry, technical vocabulary
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Education:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
Experience and/or Training:
· 1-2 years’ experience with solar energy, required.
· 1-2 years’ experience in electrical work or a related discipline, required.
· 2 years’ sales experience, preferred.
· Basic mechanical knowledge, required.
· In-depth electrical knowledge, required.
· Demonstrated experience with PV systems, commercial building materials, electrical troubleshooting, and a technical approach.
· Professional physical and virtual presence.
· Ability to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Exceptional organization and multi-tasking skills across a variety of ongoing duties.
· Knowledge of utility rate structures, demand charges, time of billing, etc. (preferred)
· Ability to understand and interpret National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, required.
Licenses/Certificates:
· Valid Driver’s License with good driving record, required.
· MREA Certification, preferred.
· NABCEP Certification, preferred.
· LEED Certification, preferred.
· Professional Energy Manager, preferred.
· Certified Energy Manager, preferred.
Technology/Equipment:
· Proficient interpretation of electrical and mechanical diagrams, required.
· Experience working in CRM systems, preferred.
· Strong computer skills with familiarity using Microsoft Suite, required.
· Experience with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD or similar), preferred.
Location: Position will be based at the Arch Milwaukee office with focus on the Racine and Kenosha areas. Must be willing to travel regularly for site visits.
