Project Manager – Solar Operations & Maintenance

The role of the Project Manager is to ensure that the Operations and Maintenance teams deliver on the terms and conditions of our contracts with consistent, high-quality, cost-effective, and timely deliverables and products to our customers.

Oversees, guides, and manages the work of contractors, vendors, suppliers, and employees. Promotes environmental stewardship and a work culture focused on health and safety.

POSITION DATA

Position Title – Project Manager

Salary wages $70,000 – $100,000 (commensurate on experience/abilities) Fair Labor Standards Act Status – Exempt

REQUIREMENTS

Experience – Minimum of 3 years of project management and/or management experience.

Skills, knowledge and abilities –Must have strong computer skills and excellent verbal and written skills. Must be sensitive to providing timely support to teammates and be detail oriented. A successful project manager candidate will have superior organizational skills, work well within a team and have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision. The candidate must have superior decision-making skills, problem-solving skills and conflict-management abilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position requires accuracy, common sense, and flexibility, the ability to calculate formulas, and develop spreadsheets.

Language Skills – Ability to read and write basic “Business English”. Ability to compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, using all parts of speech. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints. Ability to do presentations and be comfortable with public speaking. Ability to coordinate a variety of routine projects and activities simultaneously.

Physical – Body Positions: Standing and/or sitting for long periods. The position occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

Body Movements: Use of hands, arms, eyes, and voice.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The project manager role will report directly to the Director of Technical Operations.

AUTHORITY

The Project Manager candidate has sufficient authority to fulfill the responsibilities and duties assigned to the position, within the guidelines established by the President and Director of Technical Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all financial aspects of projects through ongoing job forecasting and estimating with support from Head of Business Operations.

Maintains and fosters contacts with energy consultants, contractors, vendors, and material suppliers. Oversee and initiate meetings to ensure successful handoff from estimating to the field.

Set clear goals and expectations with performance metrics and monitoring for Operations and Maintenance Technicians.

Negotiate and resolve all customer concerns in consultation with energy consultant or relevant team members.

When necessary, estimate change orders for assigned projects and get the customers approval. Manage all jobs closeout procedures to include inspections, job write ups, and returns of unused job materials.

Conduct post project reviews to determine areas for future improvement. Provide coaching/counseling to Operations and Maintenance Technicians.

Communicate company policies and procedures regarding travel, lodging, per diem etc. when applicable.

Participate in weekly staff meetings either in person or virtually.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

The principle duties of the Project Manager are listed as follows:

Interacts closely with Operations and Maintenance Technicians to ensure project needs and objectives are met.

Participates in construction review processes.

Builds company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices.

Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educations workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practice; participating in professional societies.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Maintains personal hygiene as necessary to develop an ongoing professional relationship with co- workers and customers. Maintains cleanliness in all work areas.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The job performance of the Project Manager role will be determined by the following measurements: All reports required by management, are done on a timely manner.

The President and Director of Technical Operations is advised of any potential problems.

Maintain a cooperative working relationship with President, Director or Technical Operations, customers, other managers, other employees, and vendors.

Perform all duties efficiently, with little supervision.

Make optimal use of time during working hours and be accountable to yourself and your co-workers.

Consistently display the ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Always provide proper notification and advance notice of absences.

Performs all work related responsibilities while maintaining compliance with all written and implied safety guidelines typical for the industry.
