Commercial & Industrial Solar Project Developer
Arch Solar is offering an opportunity to join the booming solar industry with one of the most experienced companies in the Midwest. Our C&I Business Unit is looking for an organized, energetic, and resourceful individual to model, design, and analyze solar energy and battery storage systems for commercial customers. Our Project Developers (PDs) are evaluated based on their ability to represent Arch as the highest standard in technical aptitude and integrity in the Wisconsin solar industry. Time management and structured organization are critical for this role, as well as self-motivation. The ideal candidate would be driven, accepting of challenges, and have a desire to never stop learning about advancing technologies and equipment. PDs need to be ready to speak to business owners, C suite executives, board rooms of stakeholders, or facility directors. By joining our team, PDs are expected to take a leadership role in the Wisconsin Solar industry; continually learning, attending events, and eventually pushing our industry’s technology and methods further. This role will report to the C&I Head of Sales Operations.
Key Roles:
- Assess the viability of prospective commercial and industrial solar energy projects. Including analysis of energy consumption, array area(roof/ground), and electrical infrastructure.
- Develop custom designed solar solutions for Arch customers.
- Work as a member of Arch’s in-house team from start to close out of projects.
- Always seek to improve industry knowledge and serve as a reputable representative of the solar industry on behalf of Arch.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform utility bill analysis for commercial customers, including demand loads and time of use
- Perform site assessment for commercial customers
- Design and recommend systems to offset electrical consumption
- Understand interconnection methods for various Wisconsin utility companies
- Perform DC string sizing, conduit planning/sizing
- Participate in permitting, including board meeting attendance
- Understand and interpret National Electrical Code(NEC) requirements
- General proposals in modeling software program
- Resolve concerns and overcome challenges
- Build trust, rapport, and confidence in customers
- Maintain and participate in ongoing training to applicable technologies
- Stay up to date on current incentives, tax credits, grants, and other financial options
- Write grants as needed
- Manage relationships with customers, contractors, and other employees
- Make a positive impact on the environment
- $15 Million in value proposals delivered annually
- $3-4 Million in solar installations annually
- Business Unit-wide peer review
- Daily updating of customer relations software
- Maintain availability and flexibility in hours to best suit customer needs
- Maintain an up-to-date industry, technical vocabulary

Critical Requirements
- 1-2 years experience with solar energy
- 1-2 years experience in electrical work or a related discipline
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- In-depth electrical knowledge
- Interpretation of electrical and mechanical diagrams
- Demonstrated experience with PV systems, commercial building materials, electrical troubleshooting, and a technical approach
- Professional physical and on-screen presence
- Works well in a team environment
- Travel as needed throughout Arch’s service area
- Excellent customer service & communication skills
- Organization and multi-tasking across a variety of ongoing duties
- Knowledge of utility rate structures, demand charges, time of billing, etc.
- 2 years of sales experience
- Experience with CRM systems
- Some level of MREA or NABCEP training
- Basic understanding of solar PV design, installation, and troubleshooting
- Excellent team working skills – ability to foster a positive team environment through collaborative decision making
- Demonstrated honesty and trustworthiness in work relationships
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft Suite
- Experience with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD or similar)
- Base Salary: $30,000-40,000
- Commission: 3-4%
- Commission Structure based on experience/abilities
- Automotive allowance available

Compensation
- Base Salary: $30,000-35,000
- Commission: 3 – 3.5%
- Commission Structure based on experience/abilities
