Location: Milwaukee, Madison, or Plymouth

                                   

FUNCTIONAL ROLE

The role of the Energy Consultant is to contact new or existing customers to determine their solar equipment needs, suggest systems, or equipment, and estimate costs.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Education – A college degree is strongly preferred, but not required.

Experience – 3+ years of experience in sales with a proven record of high closing rates.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities – Must be self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Have the ability to close deals and work under stress to meet deadlines and quotas. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must be a team player and able to handle a high volume of leads.

Language Skills – Ability to read and write basic “Business English”.  Ability to compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, using all parts of speech.  Ability to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints.  Ability to do presentations and be comfortable with public speaking. Ability to coordinate a variety of routine projects and activities simultaneously.

Physical – Body Positions: Standing and/or sitting for long periods. The position occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, and crouching to file.

Body Movements: Use of hands, arms, eyes, and voice.

AUTHORITY

The authority of the Energy Consultant is derived directly from Director of Sales.

The Energy Consultant has sufficient authority to fulfill the responsibilities and duties assigned to the position, within the guidelines established by the Director of Sales.        

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities of the Energy Consultant are as follows:

Generating solar energy customers leads to the development of new residential accounts.

Select solar energy products, systems, or services for customers based on electrical energy requirements, site conditions, price, or other factors.

Assess sites to determine suitability for solar equipment, using equipment such as tape measures, compasses, and computer software.

Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new residential markets.

Calculate potential solar resources or solar array production for a particular site considering issues such as climate, shading, and roof orientation.

Provides weekly feedback to the Director of Sales regarding performance.

Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses.

Facilitate communications between customers and operations pertaining to scheduling, accessibility, and special job needs throughout the projects.

Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.

Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

The principle duties of the Energy Consultant are listed as follows:

Develop marketing or strategic plans for sales territories.

Gather information from prospective customers to identify their solar energy needs.

Prepare or review detailed design drawings, specifications, or lists related to solar installations.

Provide customers with information such as quotes, orders, sales, shipping, warranties, credit, funding options, incentives, or tax rebates.

Provide technical information about solar power, solar systems, equipment, and services to potential customers or dealers.

Maintains contact with all customers in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Where necessary, help resolve installation and billing disputes with Customers.

Maintains personal hygiene as necessary to develop an ongoing professional relationship with co-workers and customers. Maintains cleanliness in all work areas.

 

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The job performance of the Energy Consultant will be determined by the following measurements:

All the records are kept neat, legible, and accurate.

All reports required by management are to be accurate and completed on time.

All proposals are correct, calculated, and written up to ensure profitability margins are met.

Maintains open communication throughout the sales process with the Director of Sales and customer.

Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the Director of Sales, Arch Management, customers, other managers, other employees, and vendors.

Perform all duties efficiently with little supervision.

Make optimal use of time during working hours and assist with special projects as directed.

Consistently displays the ability to recognize and deal with priorities.

Always provide proper notification and advance notice of absences.
